Class of 2022 encouraged  to apply

PORT CHARLOTTE -The Suncoast Schools Credit Union Foundation has partnered with the Charlotte Local Education Foundation to offer three,
$2,000 scholarships, CLEF Director Sara H. Wierhake announced.

Applications will be accepted Dec. 6 through March 25.

Wierhake said students can visit https://charlotteschoolfoundation.org/ways-to-give/scholarships/ to apply.

She said factors considered in choosing candidates include grades, attendance, behavior, participation in extracurricular activities such as clubs, and community service.

Students “with the potential of becoming successful in their chosen field”· would be top candidates, Wierhake added.

To be eligible to apply, the candidate must be a high school senior attending public or private school or home-schooled, and demonstrate financial need.

Also, applicants must plan to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university, a two-year college, or technical school in Florida.

They must begin their post-secondary school in the 2022-23 academic year and use the scholarship funds for tuition, required educational institution fees, and/ or other durect course-related expensise.

Not eligible for the scholarships are directors, employees, or family members of directors or employees of Suncoast Credit Union, Members Title Company, Members Insurance Services, Members Trust Company or Suncoast Realty Solutions LLC.

Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has contributed more than $30 million including more than $2.2 million ‘in scholarships to students in its 21-county service territory.
